What if losing weight doesn’t heal the reason you gained it?

Today I’m sharing something deeply personal. This isn’t just another GLP-1 update. It’s about emotional eating, grief, and the unexpected ways loss changes our relationship with food.

After losing 140 pounds on GLP-1 medication, I realized I had to ask myself a difficult question:

“What the heck did I do to get like this?”

For me, the answer wasn’t just calories. It was love, loss, memories, and learning to live after the death of my husband.

In this video I talk about emotional eating and grief, my journey with Mounjaro, why protein became so important, hair loss on GLP-1 medications and what helped me, why I no longer enjoy cooking, and finding community after loss.

If you’ve ever struggled with your weight, experienced deep grief, or felt like food became more than just food, I hope you’ll know you’re not alone.

If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to know your story. What brought you to this point in your life? Was it grief, illness, caregiving, stress, trauma, raising a family, or something else entirely?

There are no wrong answers here, and no judgment. We all have a story. I read every comment, and although YouTube occasionally hides them from me for a while, I do eventually find them.

You are welcome here. ️️

“Based preloads can be a practical tool for bariatric patients who struggle with portion control,” says Sean Thompson, a Northampton-based dietitian with a 4.99-star rating across 385+ reviews. “But I always tell clients: the foundation is still protein-first meals and mindful eating. Think of the gelatin trick as training wheels, not the whole bike. And if you have kidney concerns, check with your doctor — excessive gelatin can be protein overkill.”

Sean specializes in accessible, evidence-based nutrition for individuals with disabilities and those navigating post-surgical diets. She holds dual master's degrees from Tufts University and approaches care without a weight-centric lens.
